Create AI Agent FAQ

FAQ for Microsoft Applied Skills Create an AI agent, including retirement timing, lab format, Foundry scope, and preparation traps.

Is this credential still available?

Microsoft Learn says Microsoft Applied Skills: Create an AI agent retires on May 28, 2026. Recheck the official page before starting because the earning window is short.

What product does it use?

Microsoft Learn lists the product as Microsoft Foundry. Candidates should have experience creating agents by using Microsoft Foundry and should know generative AI concepts.

Is this a proctored exam?

It is an Applied Skills assessment that uses an interactive lab. Microsoft Learn states that the lab may take a few minutes to load, that you must wait 72 hours to launch it again after launching, and that mouse movements and typed text may be recorded for quality purposes.

What is evaluated?

Microsoft lists three evaluated areas: create and configure agents by using the Microsoft Foundry portal, add knowledge sources and tools to an agent, and orchestrate multiple agents.

Is this the same as AB-730?

No. AB-730 is a business-AI certification focused on Microsoft 365 Copilot productivity use. This Applied Skills credential is a technical lab for creating Foundry agents.

What is the biggest trap?

Treating the agent as a chat prompt only. The lab expects configured agent behavior, knowledge, tools, orchestration where required, and test evidence.
