| Data lake | Large store for raw or semi-structured data at scale. |
| Lineage | History of data origin and transformations. |
| Correlation | Statistical relationship between variables, not proof of causation. |
| Dashboard | Visual display of key metrics for monitoring or decision-making. |
| Data quality | Fitness of data for use, including accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness. |

| Prevention vs detection | Prevention blocks or reduces a bad event; detection finds or reports that it happened. |
Do not memorize terms in isolation. For each term, write one scenario where it is the best answer, one scenario where it is a distractor, and one signal that proves it worked.
